Effective and maximum production is achieved by protecting onion haulm and ensuring it remains green for as long as possible. Sufficient nutrients and moisture are essential for a hard and well-formed bulb. The element silicon is a key player when it comes to strengthening cell walls and the epidermis of the haulm and the bulb. It also increases production of the plant’s own compounds, such as phytoalexins, which stimulate the defence system. What other solutions do we offer to improve the yield of your crop?
Silicon improves the absorption and distribution of calcium and magnesium and helps additional roots to develop. This improves the capacity of the onions to absorb water and nutrients, such as manganese and boron. By making a young onion plant more resilient in this way, particularly when conditions are colder, this will reduce the risk of crop-related problems at a later stage.
Other effects of administering silicon include better root growth, the formation of barriers against diseases and pests, and higher chlorophyl production; more chlorophyl = more photosynthesis = increase in production/yield.

ManZincum is a fertiliser with CE marking based on manganese and micro-zinc that increases the robustness of onion plants and, like SilicaPower, strengthens the cell walls. The manganese in ManZincum plays a crucial role in chlorophyl and enzyme production for protein metabolism and cell division.
Dosage advice - ManZincum in onion cultivation
The standard advice is to spray weekly with 1 litre of ManZincum per hectare (around 8x per season; starting in the first half of June).
Maximum hygiene on a farm should be a standard operational procedure at every arable farm that grows onions, both during cultivation and storage. Therefore clean machines, packaging and cold store/storage units regularly. For this purpose we have developed the ready-to-use cleaning product ArgiPura. This contains a mixture of soap and traces of colloidal silver and micro-copper. By cleaning, you meet all the necessary conditions for onions that are stored hygienically and effectively. The same hygiene protocol applies, of course, to onion processing plants (sorting and storage).
