Carrot

Our solution to keep carrot foliage green

A major challenge when growing carrots is keeping the foliage green for as long as possible until the end of cultivation. Not only does this deliver additional kilos of field crop, but the net revenue is also higher. After all healthy, green foliage allows the crop to be harvested for longer and better using a clamping conveyor belt. PlantoSys products help you keep your carrot foliage green and resilient during cultivation and improve the storage of the harvested product.

Combined application of ManZincum and Nutricin to keep carrot foliage green

If carrot foliage dies off early due to, for example, a powdery mildew infestation, this often leads to significant problems when harvesting. Earlier harvesting to stay a step ahead of the infestation will have an impact on the yield. Targeted application with a combination of the fertiliser ManZincum and the biostimulant Nutricin will help the crop, particularly during the second growth stage, to become more robust, stronger and more resilient. The foliage will remain green for longer.

ManZincum is a liquid fertiliser with CE marking, based on manganese and zinc. Manganese is an important building block for a number of plant enzymes that are responsible for photosynthesis and protein metabolism. Zinc is particularly important during the early stages of the carrot’s growth because of the role it plays in producing natural growth hormones (auxins).

Nutricin is a product that contains willow bark extract, silicon, seaweed extract and 19 plant-based amino acids. Together, these components improve the plant’s self-healing capacity, root and foliage development, photosynthesis and protein synthesis and the absorption of nutrients. It also strengthens the cell walls and epidermis of the foliage and carrot; both literally become harder. This results in less damage/bruising during harvest, product entry and storage.

Nutricin and ManZincum as a basis for a crop resilience strategy

The main added value of the combined application of ManZincum + Nutricin is achieved if you use both products weekly from early August as a basic step within a crop resilience strategy. The next step in this strategy is (if required) to take corrective action with chemicals as soon as disease is evident.

Recommended dosage/advice for use - ManZincum and Nutricin in carrots

  • Dose: 1 litre/ha of ManZincum + 2 litres/ha of Nutricin.
  • Time: start the first spraying on around 1 August and repeat this every 7 - 10 days. Total number of applications – 8 - 10 times.

No residues from Nutricin and ManZincum, therefore better export options

Independent research by Delphy has shown that the PlantoSys strategy with Nutricin and ManZincum results in a significantly more robust crop in which disease prevalence is comparable to a crop in which chemical plant protection was applied as standard as from early August. By applying our crop resilience strategy you can make significant savings in terms of the use of chemicals. Another advantage is improved export options as the carrots are residue free.

ArgiPura for cleaning crates and cold stores used for carrots

Good hygiene at the farm is important when carrots go into long-term storage and need to be healthy when they leave storage. Therefore, before storing the carrots, clean the cold stores and crates. For this purpose we have developed the ready-to-use cleaning product ArgiPura. This contains a mixture of soap and traces of colloidal silver and micro-copper. By cleaning, you create all the necessary conditions for storing carrots hygienically and effectively.

Recommended dosage/advice for use - ArgiPura

ArgiPura can be added undiluted to the detergent tank of the high-pressure cleaning machine to mix with the water.

  • Dose: 1 litre of ArgiPura to 100 litres of water
  • Time: once, before product entry
